Taxonomy

Deltocephalus was named by Burmeister (1838). It is extant. It is the type genus of Deltocephalini, Deltocephalinae.

It was reranked as Jassus (Deltocephalus) by Burmeister (1838).

It was assigned to Jassus by Burmeister (1838); to Cercopida by Förster (1891); and to Deltocephalini by Statz (1950), Zahniser and Dietrich (2013), Dietrich et al. (2017) and Borodin and Borodina (2021).
