Amplexus beyrichi was named by Martin (1881). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kali-Mati, Tabeno Mountain, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate marl in Indonesia.
It was recombined as Amplexocarinia beyrichi by Yu et al. (1981).
