Taxonomy
Lachnus quesneli was named by Scudder (1878). Its type specimen is 34a, an exoskeleton (pair of wings and crushed body), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Quesnel, which is in a Priabonian lacustrine shale in the Australian Creek Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Sbenaphis.
It was recombined as Sbenaphis quesneli by Scudder (1890), Scudder (1894), Scudder (1895) and Heie and Wegierek (2011).
