Taxonomy
Cercopis selwyni was named by Scudder (1879). Its type specimen is GSC 64(65), a tegmen (pair of tegmen and crushed body), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Whipsaw Creek (Nine Mile Creek), which is in a Ypresian lacustrine mudstone in the Allenby Formation of Canada.
