Acropyge was named by Qian (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 528,624,666].

It was assigned to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ditomopyginae by Owens (2003), Lerosey-Aubril (2012).
