Tetraponera was named by Smith (1852). It is extant.

It was assigned to Formicidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Pseudomyrmecinae by Bolton (2003), Bolton (2012).

T. europaea, T. groehni, T. klebsi, T. lacrimarum, T. ocellata, T. oligocenica, T. simplex (syn. Sima angustata)

Synonyms

Sima was named by Roger (1863). It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Tetraponera by Bolton (2003), Dlussky (2009).

It was assigned to Pseudomyrmini by Wheeler (1915); and to Myrmicinae by Theobald (1937).
