Taxonomy
Tingis was named by Fabricius (1803). It is extant. It is the type genus of Tingidae, Tinginae, Tingini.

It was assigned to Ryngota by Fabricius (1803); to Tingidae by Heer (1853); to Tinginae by Drake and Ruhoff (1960), Nel (1992); and to Tingini by Wappler (2003), Wang et al. (2021).
