Lebanoculicoides was named by Szadziewski (1996). Its type is Lebanoculicoides mesozoicus. It is the type genus of Lebanoculicoidinae.
It was assigned to Ceratopogonidae by Szadziewski (1996), Borkent and Wirth (1997); and to Lebanoculicoidinae by Pérez-de la Fuente et al. (2011), Borkent (2013), Choufani et al. (2015), Choufani et al. (2015), Borkent (2019), Borkent and Dominiak (2020).
It was assigned to Ceratopogonidae by Szadziewski (1996), Borkent and Wirth (1997); and to Lebanoculicoidinae by Pérez-de la Fuente et al. (2011), Borkent (2013), Choufani et al. (2015), Choufani et al. (2015), Borkent (2019), Borkent and Dominiak (2020).
