Taxonomy
Cacheutacicada kurtzae was named by Martins-Neto and Gallego (2008). Its type specimen is MCNAM-PI 24305, a forewing (incomplete right forewing & fragment of left hindwing), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is 300 m W of Quebrada del Durazno, which is in a Carnian lacustrine delta plain shale in the Potrerillos Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Cacheutacicada.
