Taxonomy
Orbicella bumi was named by Osberger (1955). It is not extant. Its type locality is Gunung Masigit, which is in an Oligocene/Aquitanian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Rajamandala Formation of Indonesia.

It was recombined as Montastrea bumi by Kiessling (2008).
