Culicoides canadensis
Taxonomy
Atrichopogon canadensis was named by Boesel (1937). Its type specimen is ROM 35, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Cedar Lake (ROM collection), which is in a Campanian terrestrial amber in Canada.
It was recombined as Culicoides canadensis by Borkent (1995), Borkent and Wirth (1997), Borkent (2013), Szadziewski (2018) and Borkent and Dominiak (2020).
