Taxonomy
Eriosomaphis occidentalis was named by Heie (2006). Its type specimen is CAS Scudder 479, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Stewart Valley (Scudder collection), which is in a Barstovian lacustrine - large mudstone in Nevada.
