Andrenelia was named by Rasnitsyn and Martínez-Delclòs (2000). Its type is Andrenelia pinnata. It is the type genus of Andreneliidae.
It was assigned to Evaniidae by Li et al. (2014); and to Andreneliidae by Rasnitsyn and Martínez-Delclòs (2000), Li et al. (2018).
