Taxonomy
Pompilopterus corpus was named by Rasnitsyn and Jarzembowski (1998). Its type specimen is BMB 018523/4, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Rudgwick Brickworks, Upper Weald Clay, which is in a Barremian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
