Taxonomy
Mesopanorpodes shaanxiensis was named by Hong et al. (2002). Its type specimen is TH99-1/1120, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Tongchuan, which is in a Longobardian lacustrine mudstone in the Yanchang Formation of China.
