Nymphomyia succina was named by Wagner et al. (2000). Its type specimen is Hoffeins 381/2, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Bitterfeld amber (Hoffeins collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Germany.
