Taxonomy
Scytinoptera tomiensis was named by Becker-Migdisova (1961). Its type specimen is PIN 674/17, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Suriekova II (PIN collection 674), which is in a Roadian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Uskat Formation of the Russian Federation.
