Taxonomy

Psylla was named by Geoffroy (1762). It is extant. It is the type genus of Psylloidea, Psyllidae, Psyllinae.

It was assigned to Hemiptera by Geoffroy (1762), Müller (1776), Latreille (1796); to Gallinsecta by Latreille (1802); to Psyllidae by Cockerell (1915); and to Psyllinae by Becker-Migdisova (1964), Burckhardt et al. (2021).
