Taxonomy
Brachypogon (Brachypogon) americanus was named by Szadziewski and Grogan (1998). Its type specimen is FSCA 1794a, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Florida State Collection of Arthropods), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
