Taxonomy
Calaphis scudderi was named by Baker (1922). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber (Baker collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Electrocallis scudderi by Heie and Wegierek (2011).
