Taxonomy
Afrostenovicia reidae was named by van Dijk and Geertsema (1999). Its type specimen is NM 2556, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Mount West, near Mooi River, which is in a Changhsingian delta plain shale in South Africa. It is the type species of Afrostenovicia.
