Taxonomy
Cinara limnogena was named by Zhang (1989). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Shanwang, Linqu County, collection s (Shandong Provincial Museum), which is in a Burdigalian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Shanwang Formation of China.

It was recombined as Cinara (Cinara) limnogena by Favret (2012).
