Phyllaphidinae was named by Herrich-Schaeffer (1857). It is extant.

It was assigned to Callaphididae by Heie (1967); to Drepanosiphidae by Heie (2002), Heie and Wegierek (2011), Wegierek and Kania (2015); and to Aphididae by Lee et al. (2022).
