Cryptoserphus was named by Kieffer (1907). It is extant. It is the type genus of Cryptoserphini.
It was assigned to Serphidae by Brues (1940); to Proctotrupidae by Szabó and Oehlke (1986); and to Cryptoserphini by Kozlov (1970), Johnson (1992).
