Proraphidia hopkinsi was named by Jepson and Jarzembowski (2008). Its type specimen is BMB 014915,-8, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Clockhouse Brickworks (BMB collection), which is in a Hauterivian lagoonal sandstone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
