Taxonomy
Leptoconops (Leptoconops) copiosus was named by Borkent (1996). Its type specimen is AMNH NJ-42, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is New Jersey amber, Sunrise landing, East Brunswick, which is in a Turonian terrestrial amber in the Raritan Formation of New Jersey.
