Taxonomy
Karataviella samkhakensis was named by Popov (1985). Its type specimen is PIN 3610/6, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Samkhak (PIN collection 3610), which is in an Oxfordian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Ichetuy Formation of the Russian Federation.
