Taxonomy
Dictyonota petrifacta was named by Golub and Popov (2000). Its type specimen is PIN 3136/94, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Velikaya Kema, Tikhiy Spring (PIN collection 3136), which is in a Chattian lacustrine - small shale in the Kizi Formation of the Russian Federation.
