Taxonomy
Lemur potto was named by Statius Muller (1776) [type specimen is a designated neotype]. It is extant. Its type specimen is RMNH 39375, a skeleton (mounted skin and skeleton).
It was recombined as Nycticebus potto by Jentink (1887); it was recombined as Perodicticus potto by Smeenk et al. (2006).
