Taxonomy
Limnophila vulcana was named by Meunier (1906). Its type specimen is Klebs 191, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Klebs collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Pseudolimnophila vulcana by Alexander (1931).
