Taxonomy
Bibio nigricosta was named by Skartveit and Nel (2012). Its type specimen is MNHN BK 450, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bes-Konak, which is in an Aquitanian lacustrine - large diatomite in Türkiye.
