Taxonomy
Cyclininae was named by Frizzell (1936). It is extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Chioninae by Bouchet et al. (2010); it was reranked as the subfamily Cyclinina by Carter et al. (2011).
It was assigned to Veneridae by Vokes (1980), Woodring (1982), Perrilliat (1992), Pacaud and Le Renard (1995), Bieler and Mikkelsen (2006), Matsubara et al. (2010); and to Meretricini by Carter et al. (2011).
