Taxonomy
Barguru maru was named by Schwartz (2006). Its type specimen is NTM P8675-29, a set of teeth (upper right M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Small Hills locality, which is in a Miocene terrestrial limestone in the Camfield Beds Formation of Australia.
