Taxonomy
Enicocoris tibialis was named by Popov (1986). Its type specimen is PIN 3149/553, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Gurvan-Ereny-Nuruu (Outcrop 236/29), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large shale/sandstone in the Gurvan-Eren Formation of Mongolia. It is the type species of Mongolocoris, Longianteclypea.
It was synonymized subjectively with Mesolygaeus laiyangensis by Zhang (1991); it was recombined as Longianteclypea tibialis by Zhang et al. (2013); it was recombined as Mongolocoris tibialis by Ryzhkova (2012) and Clapham (2023).
