Taxonomy
Archaeosimos correlli was named by Prideaux (2004). Its type specimen is SAM P38801, a mandible (partial left juvenile dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Corra-Lynn Cave, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene cave horizon in Australia.
