Taxonomy
Lutetiabates eckfeldensis was named by Wappler and Andersen (2004). Its type specimen is NHMM PE1990/472-LS, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Eckfeld Maar (NHMN 1990 collection), which is in a MP 13 crater lake siltstone/shale in the Eifel Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Lutetiabates.
