Taxonomy
Isastrea whiteavesi was named by Clapp and Shimer (1911). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 13703, Cowichan Lake, Vancouver Island, which is in a Rhaetian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Sutton Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Guembelastraea whiteavesi by Stanley (1989).
