Turutanovia was named by Becker-Migdisova (1949). It is the type genus of Turutanoviini.
It was assigned to Tettigarctidae by Becker-Migdisova (1949); to Tettigaretidae by Shcherbakov (1986); and to Turutanoviini by Shcherbakov (2008), Moulds (2018).
