Sinoala was named by Wang and Szwedo (2012). It is the type genus of Sinoalidae, Sinoalinae, Sinoalini.
It was assigned to Sinoalidae by Wang and Szwedo (2012), Chen et al. (2018), Chen et al. (2019); and to Sinoalini by Chen et al. (2019), Chen et al. (2022).
