Taxonomy

Casaleia was named by Pagliano and Scaramozzino (1990). Its type is Protamblyopone inversa.

It was assigned to Ponerinae by Pagliano and Scaramozzino (1990); to Amblyoponini by Bolton (2003); and to Amblyoponinae by Bolton (2012), Dlussky and Wedmann (2012) and Dlussky et al. (2015).

Synonyms

Protamblyopone was named by Dlussky (1981). It is not extant. Its type is Protamblyopone inversa.

It was replaced with Casaleia by Pagliano and Scaramozzino (1990), Bolton (2012) and Dlussky and Wedmann (2012).

It was assigned to Formicidae by Carpenter (1992).
