Taxonomy
Ghilarella was named by Rasnitsyn (1988). Its type is Ghilarella mercurialis. It is the type genus of Ghilarellinae.
It was assigned to Sepulcidae by Rasnitsyn (1993); and to Ghilarellinae by Rasnitsyn (1988), Rasnitsyn (1993), Taeger et al. (2010), Kopylov and Rasnitsyn (2017) and Li et al. (2024).
