Taxonomy

Anodontophora ovalis was named by Trechmann (1917). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Otamita Stream (Bed "C"), which is in a Carnian marine shale in New Zealand.

It was recombined as Unionites ovalis by Gu et al. (1976).
