Taxonomy
Pseudomyrmex oryctus was named by Ward (1992). Its type specimen is MCZ PSW-DA4, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican Amber (MCZ collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
