Taxonomy
Tapinoma trochis was named by Wilson (1985). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican Amber (MCZ collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.

It was corrected as Tapinoma troche by Fernández and Sendoya (2004).
