Taxonomy

Hersilia was named by Audouin (1826). It is extant. It is the type genus of Hersiliidae.

It was assigned to Hersiliidae by Dunlop et al. (2013), Wheeler et al. (2017).

Synonyms

Hersiliopsis was named by Wunderlich (2004).

It was synonymized subjectively with Hersilia by Foord and Dippenaar-Schoeman (2006), Dunlop et al. (2013).
Aranea (Chalinura) was named by Dalman (1826). It is the type subgenus of Chalinuroidae.

It was reranked as Chalinura by Thorell (1873); it was synonymized subjectively with Hersilia by Bonnet (1957).

It was assigned to Aranea by Dalman (1826); and to Chalinuroidae by Thorell (1873).
