Valdicossus was named by Wang et al. (2008). It is not extant. Its type is Valdicossus chesteri.

It was assigned to Palaeontinidae by Wang et al. (2008), Li et al. (2019).

Wang et al. 2008Hindwing oval, anterior margin curved in distal part; costal area wide, maximal width in basal 1/3rd; vein R fused with vein Sc basally, and branching into veins Sc+RA and RP; vein Sc terminating in costal margin just basad of wing indentation; branch RP fused with vein M1 for a long distance basad of level of indentation; veins M1, M2 and M3+4 arising from stem M at wing base; vein M3+4 unbranched and almost straight; veins CuP and Pcu simple; vein A1 absent; membrane with geometric colour pattern.
