Scarrittia robusta

Taxonomy
Scarrittia robusta was named by Ubilla et al. (1994). Its type specimen is FC-DPV-661, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Paso del Cuello, which is in a Deseadan fluvial sandstone in the Fray Bentos Formation of Uruguay.

M. Ubilla et al. 1994Leontiniid notoungulate of great size, about the same of Scarrittia canquelensis. Scarrittia robusta can be distinguished from S. canquelensis by subparallel and thicker mandibular rami and lo~ pr~cumbent lower incisors.
