Taxonomy
Baeocossus fortunatus was named by Menon and Heads (2005). Its type specimen is SMNS 65546, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Crato (SMNS collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large carbonate in the Crato Formation of Brazil.
