Taxonomy
Pachyrucos typicus was named by Ameghino (1887). Its type specimen is MLP 12-1782, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Paedotherium typicum by Cerdeno and Bond (1998) and Vera and Ercoli (2018).
