Schizophoria was named by King (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 651,1066]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Orthis (Schizophoria) by Reed (1944).

It was assigned to Orthis by Reed (1944); to Orthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Schizophoriidae by Williams et al. (2000), Stigall Rode (2005).
